It’s the Freakin’ Weekend! What are You Playing?

Friday! Video games! Let’s talk!

With Brad out enjoying the upper west coast I’ll be posting for the week.(Send me a post card… or maybe just a picture of a postcard that is a picture of Seattle)

It’s a holiday weekend and likely almost everybody will be spending time with friends and family. That doesn’t mean that there won’t be time for gaming. Perhaps there could be some gaming with the aforementioned friends and family?

As for my plans, well… they aren’t that exciting. I’m on-call for the holiday and really won’t get to do much(I know, I’m making you jealous). What time I will have available will be spent on some single player stuff, that way if I get interrupted by work it won’t be a big bother to my game progress. I’ll be playing things like…

Star Wars Battlefront II – Stop rolling your eyes at me. The shooter aspects of the game are well done and it is Star Wars after all. My hopes are that the Resurrection story piece they added will somehow, some way make the story at least feel more complete if not better. My expectations are low but I’m going to give it a chance.

Far Cry 4 – This game has been sitting on my shelf for months and I just can’t get myself to play it much. I spent a couple hours a few weeks ago on it but just couldn’t stick with it. The main story was good but I didn’t like all the side stuff, it just felt like the game was constantly distracting me. This is my test to see if I want Far Cry 5 when it lands next year. So far, not so much.

Life is Strange: Before the Storm – This is the first order on my gaming list. About two weeks ago it was on sale on Steam and I decided to buy it. By all accounts I have to agree that this game should not be as good as it is… but it is. The final episode just released a few days ago and I’ve forced myself not to play it yet just so I have it for this weekend. I want to see how they wrap this up but I don’t want it to be over.

What will you be playing??? Is there something on your wish list that you’re hoping Santa gives you???

  1. I really need to play Life is Strange. I’m currently continuing my Etrian Odyssey V adventure. I’m not usually into non-story heavy RPGs so it’s really weird for me that I love this game so much, but there’s something so fun and enjoyable about it. It does just enough to keep you engaged, but not too much to overwhelm you. I’m also trying to log into Final Fantasy Brave Exvius at least once a day, especially since I bought this package where you get a total of 5000+ lapis (one of the in game currencies) if you log in every day. It’s not bad for a freemium game, though I do prefer ones that end. I also need to try beating the Lord of Lightning in Mario Odyssey one more time. He keeps kicking my butt!

I hope you have a Happy Holiday and it’s nice to meet ya since you’re filling in for Brad 🙂

    • As long as you are enjoying a game that is all that matters.

Both the original Life is Strange and Before the Storm were really good for me. I found that I have a save point on the PS4 version of the original that I don’t know where I am in the game so I may just start over. Before the Storm got me wanting to play the original again.

I hope you have a great holiday as well! Feel free to drop by any time! I’ve been trying to keep up with your posts but my time has been limited of late. Hopefully I have time post-Christmas to get caught up.

  2. Nothing! Due to the entire weekend being filled up by work, and preparation there’s no time to game. Possibly some time on Christmas though, once my nieces open their Switch 🙂

      • Well it’s just the one Switch, but with the detachable joycons they can both use it simultaneously mitigating some of the jealousy. Plus my Sister, and Brother-In-Law are going to get a fair use out of it too. So hopefully that’s four happy people tomorrow. Would have loved to have been able to get them each one, but $600 would have been a bit too wallet busting. At least they get Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with it 🙂

      • I’m old enough to remember getting an Atari 2600 that I had to share with my brother and sister. Still a great memory that ties me to both family and gaming. Maybe they’ll get the same feeling from this.
