Dude’s Chronicles 3-29-2015: The Short Short Version

Work+sucks+for+everyone_61db95_3112430Here’s the short version…I’m getting ready to go in to work. I didn’t watch anything of substance. Outside of a few sessions of Destiny and Titanfall, most of my gaming time was spent in Diablo III on the Xbox One.

Dude’s Chronicles 3-22-2015: Dog Days

The-girls-of-DOG-DAYS-dog-days-23791553-1920-1200My weekend trip got canceled, so I stayed inside watching Netflix and finishing Watch Dogs. All things considered….not a bad weekend.

House-of-Cards-CitationThe third season of House of Cards was, quite frankly, fantastic. If you have Netflix and have not watched this show, you need to seriously re-evaluate your watching habits. No spoilers but this season included more twists that I did not necessarily see coming and got much darker than I anticipated. The only thing that disappoints me is that its over and I don’t know when they are releasing the next season.

Since I still need things to watch, I started watching An Idiot Abroad after a friend recommended it. Not sure about my friend’s recommendation so far but I’m only through the first two episodes. It doesn’t seem as outrageously funny as it was sold to me as. Most of it feels contrived and setup giving it a very unnatural sense. Plus, since the star is a comedian, it’s is hard to tell if he is being sincere or just acting.

watch-dogs-aiden-pearce-wallpaperWatch Dogs turned out better than I thought it would. The game started out slow and never took off at any point. The characters never got flushed out and issues with the plot persisted until the end. Overall, the game had a lot of potential but wasn’t able to come close to fulfilling it. Better writing would have made the game not only more believable but also more enjoyable. I made the statement, and will stand by it, that if you want to play a game with the word ‘dogs’ in the title, play Sleeping Dogs instead.

Are you confused about the first graphic in this post? So was I. After picking my title, I put “dog days” into Google, and this was what came up in the image search. If you want to know more about Dog Days, read this. I haven’t seen the show, nor am I going to, but I figured it might make a few people question what was going on here.

Podcast: Forces Against This Happening

What's Your Tag?

This week’s podcast from What’s Your Tag? seemed to be doomed from the start. However, Miles, Kayla, and Paul do learn a dark truth about Brad’s activities with the CIA. This is a rather short podcast, so feel free to listen twice.

As always, the podcast is available to download via SoundCloud if you want to hear us yap during your lunch break instead of sitting at your PC for an hour.

Dude’s Chronicles 3-15-2015: Watching Dogs

i-have-no-idea-what-im-doing-dog-bailey-1-700x525cThis week was rough but there was more down time and I got back to some entertainment. We all have these times and must deal with them. So…..

Kevin-Spacey-in-House-of-Cards-Season-2-Chapter-26Rewatching more of Star Wars: The Clone Wars was my choice for viewing when I just needed to watch something but not really pay attention to it. I finally did get around to starting the third season of House of Cards and it is not disappointing. This season seems to have a different tone thus far and I want to see how it plays out. No spoilers here, I wouldn’t do that to you.

watch-dogs-aiden-pearce-wallpaperUh, that Watch Dogs game, yuck. Playing the game in hour long blocks is the longest session I can stand. The main character is not relatable and almost impossible to empathize with since he is the cause and perpetuation of his own problems. The open world and side missions are more interesting than the main story which only makes me feel that this game had a lot of potential but didn’t come close to reaching it. Getting $20 worth of value will likely happen but I can see why people who paid the full $60 for it were disappointed.

Hopefully I’ll have time this week to finish both Watch Dogs and House of Cards, although I’ll probably enjoy the later much more than the former.
