Podcast: The Good, The Bad, The Order

What's Your Tag?

Of course the What’s Your Tag? gang was right about The Order:1886 being bad, and we go even further with our psychic powers. Brad uses his go-to soothsayer item while Miles questions Kayla’s upgraded trinket, but Paul sticks with cold calculation to determine the future. (Sidenote: Paul has lost it!)

Dude’s Chronicles 2-22-2015: Damn You Destiny

destiny-iron-bannerI really, really, really wish I could find another game to get myself into but I found myself sucked into Destiny again. Not that I want to play the game but there are two things that made me do it: 1. I have the season pass and therefore the next DLC when it releases and I want at least one character at the max Light level, 2. I just can’t find anything else that interests me. With that said, I wouldn’t have even played Destiny if it had not been for the Iron Banner. This was the best opportunity to get the higher level boots for my warlock character without suffering through Crota’s End.

The longer I played, however, there were a couple of things that I found disturbing. First off, the level 32 players seemed to have much higher damage level, both dealing and resisting. I understand that they should have an advantage but the scale of it seemed to high. What bothered me more was the lag and I don’t think it is natural in the game or the event. Yes, I think people were cheating by using lag devices but I can’t prove it. Take for example when I shot an opponent twice with a heavy machine gun and he shot me three times with a hand cannon, his shields were not even effected but I was dead. I will not argue my death by his weapon, he happened to have the Hawkmoon which is one of the best in the game. I question that his shields never budged. This wasn’t the only incident that seemed wrong and I’ve seen mention of lag by others on the Internet. Hopefully Bungie will investigate this and respond accordingly.

I tried playing several other games but could not get myself to continue with them. Everything from Rouge Legacy, to Transistor, to Star Wars: The Old Republic all felt lifeless to me. Titanfall was about the only game that I played with much enjoyment. This is what I believe others call a “slump”.

Kevin-Spacey-in-House-of-Cards-Season-2-Chapter-26To fill the void of gaming, I proceeded to watch many movies. Everything from Donnie Darko, to Anchorman 2, to Star Treak: Into Darkness, even Hellboy all got watched again and all were enjoyed. Additionally, I watched The Cider House Rules and The Whole Nine Yards, both of which I haven’t seen for more than five years but enjoyed just the same. I did take time to re-watch House of Cards since the third season is to release this week. I also re-watched some of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars series.

Although House of Cards is a definite watch this week, I am hopeful to find a game that I can get into. It feels like it has been too long since I’ve played again through its entirety and enjoyed it.

We at What’s Your Tag? understand and respect your romantic committals, so take a listen to some of the news you may have missed! It’s a tough job for Miles to keep a robot running properly when Kayla causes a panic attack while Paul has a firmware update pending. Dude’s Chronicles 2-15-2015: No Need For Flowers

flowers_in_the_garbage

Hopefully you had a good Valentine’s Day, whether you were alone or not. I spent part of the day with some friends drinking at the bar, at least we entertained each other.

I’ve come to the conclusion I will never clear out my Netflix queue. Every time I get through some of the programs I have queued, I inevitably add more and for as many things as I watched this week it doesn’t even appear to be any lesser. Here is the breakdown of what I watched this week.

robin-hoodRobin Hood – This was a favorite of mine as a child and still stands as my gold standard when it comes to Robin Hood movies.

heavenlysword11.4Heavenly Sword – I’ve heard of the game but have never played it and therefore had no idea what to expect from the movie. It was absolutely fantastic and I encourage anyone to watch it. It has a story that is bold and the production is beautiful.

Official_logo_for_RWBYRWBY – The first volume seemed like a mix of Japanese anime and Looney Tunes but the second volume showed a lot of growth in the story and production. I’m curious as to how it will be handled with the unfortunate and untimely death of Monty Oum. I hope they carry on with it in his memory.

americanhamNick Offerman: American Ham – This guy is halarious, watch this.

makeanoiseMel Brooks: Make A Noise – Another brilliantly funny man.

Neverwinter-1-620x350

I spent some time playing Neverwinter on PC this week. It is not the type of game I typically play but it seems like it is well done. However, I’m not sure how much more time I will spend playing it. This game is supposed to come to the Xbox One soon, I might pick it back up and play more then.

Other than Neverwinter, I just bounced around playing little tidbits of other games. I jumped back into Destiny for a little bit and realized that game still makes me sad. A game so graphically and functionally well-built is still ruined by its quest and upgrade systems. On the other side of the spectrum, Titanfall is still as good as it ever was. I can jump right back into that game and have a blast. Unfortunately I didn’t make any time to play any of the Star Wars games I bought in the Humble Bundle…maybe next week.

Well, I’m off to finish watching RoboCop 2.
