A lot of people have made a lot of money off of student athletes over the years but it seems that the athletes themselves are not one of those people. That is about to change for the better. A motion has been filed to accept a settlement in the case against the NCAA and EA for using the athletes likenesses in the NCAA Football, Basketball, and March Madness games.
If the deal is accepted by the courts, each player is set to receive $951 for each year that they appeared in the game. It may pale in comparison to the amount of money both the NCAA and EA made from these games but this is a big first step in the right direction.
